Aaron Lock aka Lockie

Aaron LockAaron Lock is the principle instructor and founder of the business based in Sumner.
Age: 41 years

Coaching : 21 years
Aaron is one of New Zealand’s top competitive Bodyboarders and has many competition titles to his name. He is also a successful surfing competitor. He splits his surfing time between Shortboarding, Longboarding and Bodyboarding.
Aaron has been coaching Surfing and Bodyboarding for over 19 years. He is a qualified International Surf Assoc.(ISA) Level 2 Surf Coach and Coaching New Zealand Level 2 Coach. He is current chairman of the Canterbury Scholastic Surf Team.
Aaron is trained in First Aid and Surf Lifesaving.
Aaron is a ISA Level One Surf Judge and is regularly involved in Judging and Administrating local and national surfing competitions.

Alethea Lock

Alethea LockAlethea is Aaron and Lana’s daughter. She had no choice but to get into surfing at a young age and is now ones of New Zealands top female surfers. She traveled to the World Junior Surf Champs in Panama in 2012. She graduated with a degree in Psychology at Otago Uni and works the summers in the surf school.

Taylor McNeill

tay kaiks photo tristan yarrellTaylor lives at Waikuku Beach and is part of the North Side boardriders. He is a champion surfer placing 5th at the 2011 National Scholastics. These days Taylor is more of a free surfer than competitor. He has just finished his teaching degree at Canterbury Uni and has been coaching in Ireland this winter.

Walt Robberds

walt cropWalt is a champion surf lifesaver, competing throughout New Zealand for his Sumner Beach club. Walt rides both short and longboards and is always amping to get into the water. He also happens to be a talented musician. Walt has been coaching in Europe this past winter.

Bradely King

Brad is a fantastic surfer, musician, designer and all round good guy. Brad never seems to get down and is always amping to go surfing. Brad was our Rookie of the year in 2012 and continues to be one of our top coaches. You’re always guaranteed a fun lesson with Brad.

Neill Robb

Neill RobbNeill happens to be the eldest team member but still a grommett at heart.
Neill is a highly skilled shortboard surfer with several National and South Island titles to his name.
Neill is great with the technical aspects of surfing, so if you’re having trouble perfecting your bottom turn or cutback he’s the one to talk to.

Cam is from North Beach. He’s a national level swimmer and surf lifesaver. No one can paddle faster than Cam. Cam will be working at The Surf Shed in New Brighton as well as lessons in Sumner.

Adam Brasell

Adam is an outdoor enthusuast. He’s a surfer, kayaker, rock climber, snowboarder and traveller. Adam is a highly skilled outdoor education instrcuotr working for CPIT as well as Learn to Surf. He’s also likes to make his own surfboards in his shed at home.

Lana Lock

Lana LockLana has been involved with surfing for over 19 years. As Aarons wife she has been traveling to surfing comp’s and beaches for the last 22 years.
Lana loves the ocean with fishing one of her passions and is getting into SUP boarding.
Whilst Lana is not a top surfer her love of the ocean and people skills make her a great coach. She is especially good with young children and also adult clients who are having difficulty mastering the sport.
These days Lana is our beach manager, chances are she’ll greet you when you arrive for your lesson.
