After two successful surf tours in Bali, we decided to explore a little bit more and now you will have the opportunity to surf with us in an small island off the coast of North Sumatra! Sumatra is most famous for its vast unspoiled jungle, home of Orangutans and it is the 6th largest island in the world!
We partnered with a local surf resort where you will have uncrowded waves all along the south and western side of the island. Within 5 to 75 minutes from the resort, there are at least 10 quality waves where you can experience hollow reefs or mellower beach breaks. Aaron Lock and Mary Rocha will be your hosts and we guarantee good vibes, know-how and full guidance throughout your experience in Sumatra.
Our 8 nights / 9 days Tropical Surf Retreat Sumatra package includes:
- Accommodation in Medan: You will need to stay in the capital for 1 night before your flight the next day. Accommodation with breakfast is included.
- All inclusive Resort: 7 nights twin share accommodation, including 3 meals daily with tea and coffee
- Domestic Flight: Return Domestic Flights within Sumatra
- Transport: Transporting you and your surfboard to surf breaks
- Small group sessions: To ensure a fully personalized experience.
- Coaching: Whether you’re a beginner advanced or experienced surfer, our surf coaching sessions with Aaron and Mary will definitely elevate your game!
- Watch yourself: Video analysis session where you will be able to check on your stance, paddle and performance.
- Massage: What a great way to unwind yourself after a day surfing? 1 massage is included in your tour

What’s NOT included
- Flights: To and from Medan (allow $1900 – $2200, we suggest Singapore Airlines). You’ll need to book your own flights or we can recommend a travel agent.
- Surfboard excess baggage charge on domestic flights
- Alcoholic drinks and snacks during the tour
- Meals in Medan (breakfast included)
Optional extras
- Professional Photography Package ($280 pp)
- Extra night in Medan and Wildlife Tour to see the Sumatran Orangutan Tours ($260 pp). Get hot and sweaty walking up narrow jungle trails – and then wash it all off on a thrilling jungle raft down the river (option to return on foot instead) on your return to the car for your trip back to Medan.
- Surf Boat trip. We will have the opportunity to access some breaks by boat ($50 pp).
